There’s no midsize SUV quite like the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a model that delivers everything from rugged off-road capabilities to tire-burning performance around the track. Inside, the Grand Cherokee is equally accommodating, offering everything from roomy comfort to high-end luxury.
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is known for its satisfying power but the powertrains vary quite a bit, with options ranging from the off-road-friendly 5.7-liter V8 engine to the track-ready supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine. The former is optional for the Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit models, pumping out 360 horses as you slog up mountains and through muddy riverbeds. The latter comes standard on the Trackhack, a special Grand Cherokee trim model that’s specially designed for blazing on-road speed.
In true Jeep form, the 2021 Grand Cherokee looks as bold and sporty as it feels on the road. With its trademark Jeep grille and imposing stance, this midsize SUV is easy to pick out of a crowd and (depending on which trim model you select), the Cherokee may come standard with flashy 20-inch wheels or a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
Inside the Grand Cherokee cabin, there are five spacious seats with especially generous headroom and legroom in both rows. This Jeep SUV also puts you in a commanding position behind the steering wheel, and its height adds to the already impressive range of visibility. You’ll also be pleased with the control setup, because important buttons and dials are within easy reach.
This rugged SUV adds a big heap of luxury like the cabin’s insulation which helps maintain on-road quiet, even when you’re speeding down a windy highway. Thanks to the smooth engine options and air suspension, the Grand Cherokee ride feels very refined. Optional comfort features, like heated and ventilated front seats and leather upholstery, will offer even more in upscale commuting.
Jeep’s technology lineup includes cutting-edge smartphone integration, which makes it possible to use phone and text messaging apps with both hands on the wheel. Every Grand Cherokee alos comes standard with a touch-screen infotainment interface, a feature that makes it easy to sort through menus and access the controls you require. All but the Laredo Grand Cherokees include a Wi-Fi modem, so you can take your internet connection on every adventure.
Every Grand Cherokee helps you navigate around what you can’t see, with rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring. Optional driver safety aids, such as lane departure warning and forward collision mitigation, alert you to other on-road issues. Some features can even help you avoid accidents altogether.
Depending on trim model and powertrain, the Grand Cherokee’s towing capabilities actually vary quite a bit. With the proper equipment, the Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit, and 80th Anniversary models max out at 3,500 pounds. The Trailhawk and High Altitude trim models are much more capable, with tow ratings of up to 6,200 pounds.
The high-powered SRT and Trackhawk trims can tote the biggest boats or campers (each of these SUVs tows up to 7,200 pounds).
The Grand Cherokee’s EPA ratings also vary from powertrain to powertrain. The line’s most efficient option is the standard V6, which of course means there’s no need to pay extra to balance your fuel budget.
You won’t find another SUV with such a variety of capabilities. Depending on which trim model you select, your Grand Cherokee can be as luxurious, trail-ready, or track-ready as you want.
Choose from 11 Grand Cherokee trims: Laredo E, Laredo X, Limited, 80th Anniversary, Limited X, Trailhawk, Overland, High Altitude, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk.
For the entry-level Grand Cherokee model, comfort comes standard. In addition to roomy, supportive seating, the Laredo E also impresses with its extensive infotainment lineup. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration features display apps on the touch-screen infotainment interface, so you can tuck your smartphone safely out of sight without missing a beat. Speaking of safety, the Laredo E also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear parking sensors to help escort the Grand Cherokee in and out of a space, ding-free.
This model adds to the Laredo’s standard features with special interior styling and opens the doors to a long list of options, including heated front seats and a power liftgate.
The Grand Cherokee Limited is a classy SUV, dressing up the cabin with leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a sunroof. This Jeep also includes an upgraded infotainment system, with a bigger touch-screen interface and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The power liftgate is another favorite feature, offering quick and easy access to your shopping bags and athletic equipment.
The 80th Anniversary model sets itself apart from other Grand Cherokees with its Granite Crystal exterior trim and 20-inch aluminum wheels. Inside, this SUV is also stylish and comfortable, with heated, leather-trimmed seats and a black interior color scheme.
The Limited X also combines impressive interior comfort with exclusive exterior style. Whereas the 80th Anniversary features Granite Crystal-painted exterior trim, the Limited X adds Gloss Black details.
The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is equipped to travel off-road trails. Indeed, if you’re planning a trek into the mountains or through muddy riverbanks, there’s no better SUV for the job. The Trailhawk comes standard with a special four-wheel-drive system designed for heavy-duty use in rugged terrain.
The Grand Cherokee Overland is also designed for off-road travel. But this model puts a stylish spin on adventure, adding some luxury upgrades to its rugged lineup, such as 20-inch wheels and soft leather seating. Thanks to the air lift suspension system, the Overland can improve ground clearance by up to 10.8 inches.
The High Altitude is even more luxurious, featuring Nappa leather seats and a sleek black interior color scheme. Outside, its Granite Crystal-painted wheels, exterior trim, and grille give the High Altitude a unique sense of style.
As its name suggests, the Summit is the height of luxury in the Grand Cherokee lineup. Its refined cabin appeals to your senses with upgraded leather seating and a 19-speaker premium audio system.
The Grand Cherokee SRT enhances on-road performance with a high-powered V8 engine. Indeed, this SUV achieves speeds of up to 160 mph. Inside, the flat-bottom steering wheel and front-seat bolstering add to the SRT’s race-friendly ride. The SRT also comes standard with a special four-wheel-drive system designed to optimize track performance.
On the track, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is even more impressive than the high-powered SRT. With its supercharged V8 engine and launch control system, this SUV goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. The Trackhawk also enhances performance precision, with upgraded high-performance brakes and suspension. Like the SRT, the Trackhawk features a special four-wheel-drive system that maximizes road-gripping action on the track.
This rugged SUV is certainly built to last, but no one can plan for the unexpected. That’s why the Grand Cherokee casts a wide safety net with its expansive warranty coverage.
