Seemingly unstoppable and highly customizable, the all-new 2021 Ford Bronco is putting an entirely new spin on rugged performance. Like the Broncos of old, the upcoming sixth-generation models have a distinctive retro flair, inside and out. Unlike the vintage versions, however, these off-road-ready SUVs are also outfitted with a ton of high-tech gear, from infotainment to safety to cutting-edge performance upgrades.
The all-new Ford Bronco is never short on power. Choose from two cutting-edge powertrains to get you going:
The 2021 Bronco is the only SUV in the segment to offer a seven-speed manual transmission, a feature that promises endless fun for driving enthusiasts. One of its seven gears is a dedicated crawl gear, optimizing performance in especially rough off-road territory.
Note that the base engine is available with either the manual or automatic transmission, but the optional engine upgrade only comes with the automatic transmission.
One of the Bronco’s main draws is of course its outstanding off-road capabilities. To start, every Bronco includes rugged four-wheel-drive performance to help you navigate soft surfaces and a long list of hardware upgrades—from a disconnecting front stabilizer bar to Bilstein shocks, which will help you travel just about anywhere.
What exactly are G.O.A.T. Modes? Bronco diehards may recall that the original first-generation models were nicknamed “Goes Over Any Terrain,” hence the G.O.A.T. reference. Depending on which Bronco trim model you select, you can enjoy five or seven of these eight G.O.A.T. Modes, designed to tailor performance to suit your surroundings:
Properly equipped, the 2021 Ford Bronco can tow up to 3,500 pounds, which is the equivalent of a couple of four-wheelers, Jet Skis, or a decent-sized speed boat. Which of course is great news for outdoor-loving drivers with rugged toys at home.
EPA ratings for the 2021 Ford Bronco aren’t out just yet, but check back soon for updates!
If you’re an old school Bronco fan, you’ll recognize this all-new model’s vintage design cues, many of which are taken straight from the original 1966 Bronco. Just like days of old, the new Bronco lets you choose between two-door and four-door body styles; both built on a rugged, truck-based chassis, perfect for off-road adventures.
Remove the doors and roof of your Bronco (a surprisingly easy feat), and you’re ready for a no-holds-barred cruise through the wilderness. Other body pieces, such as the fenders, are also removable, helping you clear rugged terrain with surprising versatility. The Bronco is ready for any and all accessories, with numerous hard mounting points hidden in its exterior design.
Just as it does outside, the 2021 Ford Bronco cabin puts a modern spin on retro styling. As you bounce along on rocky terrain, passengers can keep steady using the conveniently placed grab handles. After a dusty day on the trail, optional floor drains and marine-grade vinyl seating make it easy to hose down the Bronco cabin. On the dash, switches and knobs are sealed to keep from short circuiting during an interior wash. Alternatively, you could go the classier route, opting for stylish leather upholstery and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Features:
It might look and feel retro, but the 2021 Bronco tech lineup is as cutting-edge as it gets. Besides performance gears designed to help you get the most out of your adventure, this SUV also throws advanced infotainment and driver safety aids into the mix.
To start, the Bronco is rolling out Ford’s new Sync 4 infotainment system, with its fast-acting touch-screen interface and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. The navigation system even works off-road, giving you trail recommendations as well as the power to save your own adventures in the system.
In addition to the usual safety features, the Bronco adds systems designed to help you navigate rugged terrain. For instance, the Trail Control system includes a low-speed cruise control feature, providing steady acceleration and leaving you to focus on steering. The Trail Turn Assist feature brakes inside the wheel while the Bronco pivots around it, creating very sharp turns indeed. Also, cameras are strategically placed to remove any guesswork as you tread unfamiliar trails. You can add an optional camera in front of each tire to know exactly where you stand.
Choose from seven outstanding Bronco models: the base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Wildtrak, Badlands, and First Edition.
The entry-level 2021 Bronco is a great place to start. The base model not only gives you the best deal on a brand new Bronco, but it also comes standard with off-road-ready four-wheel drive, a hefty EcoBoost engine, and a manual transmission with crawl gear. With such a muscular lineup, it’s already more rugged than competitors.
The Big Bend adds to the base Bronco’s lineup with extra features in the off-roading, comfort, convenience, and technology departments. It also adds to the base model’s rugged capabilities with an extra mode for the Terrain Management System: Mud/Rut.
With its upgraded off-road hardware and marine-grade seating upholstery, the Black Diamond is ready for both a rowdier romp in the mud and, afterwards, a quick interior rinse off. The Black Diamond also adds Rock Crawl to its list of G.O.A.T. Modes, putting you in a prime position for mountain climbing.
The Outer Banks puts a classy spin on Bronco driving. This trim model adds style, with extra exterior features that include body-colored door handles and mirror caps and LED headlights. With heated front seats and all the comforts of the Mid Package (remote engine start, Sync 4 infotainment, ambient interior lighting, the Outer Banks is as lavish inside as it looks outside.
The Wildtrak was meant for desert runs; for starters, it adds Baja to its list of G.O.A.T. Modes. With its standard 35-inch tires and Sasquatch Package, the Wildtrak elevates your ride.
This is the Bronco that will take you anywhere. The Badlands was designed with off-road adventure in mind, giving drivers the absolute best in four-wheel-driving capabilities. In addition to a disconnecting front stabilizer bar, the Badlands sets you up with exclusive heavy-duty suspension.
The Bronco First Edition is limited to 3,500 models that combines interior features of the Outer Banks with the rugged exterior features of the Wildtrak. It’s also sublimely capable, since it also comes standard with the Badlands off-road hardware.
The Sasquatch Package (Optional for Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands; Standard for First Edition) adds:
