The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV is an all-new, all-electric small crossover SUV. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because this crossover is based on the Bolt EV hatchback. However, the new Bolt EUV cabin is 6 inches longer than the hatchback version, increasing rear legroom and improving family road trips. This new crossover also offers high-tech features you won’t find on the Bolt or anywhere else — including Chevy’s new hands-free driving system.

Power and Performance

In addition to being completely gas-free, the battery-powered Bolt EUV is fun to drive: hit the throttle for an instant dose of power and you’ll appreciate how smooth this crossover feels as it climbs to highway speeds. This Bolt also excels at navigating tight corners, thanks to its quick, responsive steering.

Press a button to activate the Bolt’s one-pedal driving mode which captures energy that would normally be lost during deceleration and returns it to the battery pack. You can also come to a complete stop in one-pedal mode and for even more aggressive regenerative braking, you can pull a designated paddle on the steering wheel.

2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV on the Road

The Bolt EUV is the first Chevy to feature the optional Super Cruise hands-free driving system. Drivers can use this technology on designated roads, which so far includes more than 200,000 miles of pre-mapped pavement in the U.S. and Canada. This system comes standard with three years of connectivity (after three years, a paid subscription is required).

Standard:

  • Electric motor powered by a 65-kWh lithium-ion battery (200 hp, 266 lb-ft)
  • Front-wheel drive
  • GM estimates 250-mile range (EPA ratings not out yet)
  • Dual Level Charge Cord
  • DC Fast Charging capable
  • One-pedal driving
  • Energy Assist (uses real time data to calculate the most efficient route)
  • Regen On-Demand (restores energy with a simple pull and hold of a paddle)
  • Sport Mode

Optional:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Super Cruise driver assistance technology
  • Driver Attention System

Battery Range and Charging Times

Although the EPA has yet to release official ratings, General Motors estimates that the Bolt EUV will be able to travel up to 250 miles on a full battery charge.

Every model comes standard with the Dual Level Charge Cord, which plugs into both 120- and 240-volt power outlets, drawing up to 7.2 kilowatts. Chevy is also partnering with Qmerit to install 240-volt outlets in homes, free of charge, making it quick and easy to recharge your Bolt EUV battery.

With a dedicated Level 2 charger, the Bolt’s onboard charger can draw up to 11 kilowatts, reducing overall charge time to seven hours.

Not to mention, the Bolt’s DC Fast Charge capabilities: head to a DC fast-charging station for the fastest possible recharge, gaining up to 95 miles worth of battery power during a 30-minute charge.

  • GM estimates 250-mile range (EPA ratings not out yet)
  • 120 volts: 4 miles in 1 hour of charging
  • 240 volts: Full charge in about 7 hours
  • DC Fast Charge: Up to 95 miles in 30 minutes

Although it is based on the Bolt EV hatchback, the all-new Bolt EUV features state-of-the-art styling. Its front end is sleek and modern, with LED headlamps and a textured, EV-style grille. Comparison

The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV is one of the most exciting electric SUVs to hit the market this year, but how does it stack up against its competitors? Let's take a closer look.

One of the Bolt EUV's primary competitors is the Tesla Model Y. While both are electric crossovers, there are some key differences. The Bolt EUV has a lower starting price, but the Model Y has a longer range and faster acceleration. However, the Bolt EUV offers more advanced safety features as standard, while many of these are optional on the Model Y. Additionally, the Bolt EUV has more passenger and cargo space, making it a better choice for families.

Another electric crossover that competes with the Bolt EUV is the Ford Mustang Mach-E. While the Mach-E is slightly more expensive, it offers a longer range and faster charging times than the Bolt EUV. However, the Bolt EUV has more advanced safety features and offers more passenger and cargo space. Additionally, the Bolt EUV has a lower starting price, making it a more accessible option for many buyers.

Overall, while the Bolt EUV faces some stiff competition in the electric crossover market, it offers a compelling combination of price, performance, safety features, and passenger and cargo space. Buyers looking for an all-electric SUV that won't break the bank and offers advanced safety features should definitely consider the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV.
